For sale! Antique Mini Banjo Mandolin 8 String Mother of Pearl Inlay on Scroll and Fingerboard Item Description Here is a great antique banjo mandolin for your buying consideration. W ould make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Great old 8 string banjo for your consideration. Not sure of the make. Do not see a maker's mark anywhere on it. The mandolin banjo dates to the 1930s to 1940s. Could be a Vega, Weymann, Gibson, Fairbanks, Ludwig or some other make. The head on the banjo mandolin looks most like a Vega, but you decide what make it is before acquiring the banjo. Any help in determining the maker and model of this banjo mandolin would be appreciated. Your identity would be kept anonymous. Thanks. Beautiful made musical instrument that still looks very good. The body appears to be made of a maple wood. The 8 tuners are intact on the head and are working as expected. Some splits on the rim by 4 of the sound holes. Another longer split that runs around the bottom of the instrument by the back plate. The back plate has a split in it and is coming loose from the rest of the instrument. All the j bolts and hex nuts are in place. Neck is tightly secured to the body of the banjo mandolin. The metal frets are all in place. The banjo is 23.5" long, by 11-3/16" across, by 2-5/8" wide. The head is 10.25" across (inside the metal tension loop). The head on the banjo looks intact, I see no rips or tears. The bridge is on the banjo, and is intact. What you see is what you get. Eight strings are on the banjo mandolin, but old and you should expect to have to replace them. This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. There most likely will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
