Vintage French Empire Bureau Desk 2 Drawers Wood Inlay Hunting and Animal Scenes Louis XV Style Item Description Here is a great Vintage French desk with inlaid designs for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an estate sale. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Beautiful vintage desk. Our guess is this piece was made in the last 40 years, but you be the judge before acquiring. The piece has French Provincial looking legs on it. Very well made piece. Definitely made by a master carpenter. The wood has been "bumped" up to give it the look of being old and there are small holes in the surface area to give the look of worm holes. Just an amazing amount of work went into this piece. Unfortunately there is no maker's mark. Not sure of the type of wood used. Just a great looking reddish brown stain on the desk. Then we get to the inlaid designs of what may be kangaroos on the top, a hunter with bow with a deer in front of him and then other designs of foliage and forest animals on the middle of the two drawers. This inlay work was very professionally done and is still all in place. The desk has a couple of minor finish loss spots on the trim by one of the drawers that just needs a good furniture marker touch up. No cracking, splitting or repairs to any of the wood that I have observed. The key works the lock on the front of the desk. The front then swivels down and acts as the desk top. Two slotted areas inside for correspondence and then two smaller drawers inside. Legs still look good, just some minor wear and tear. There is some great pressed trim molding at the bottom of the desk that runs between the two legs. No chips, cracks, or repairs to the desk wood that I can ascertain. There are two very large drawers with gold colored metal pulls on them below the desk area. The desk is 35.5" tall, by 32.75" across, by 14" wide. The desk area is 20.5" across by 16" wide (back to the drawers) when the desk top is swiveled down. This desk is for local pick up in Georgetown, DE. You can pick it up or we will also offer to deliver it withing 100 miles one way of Georgetown, DE. $.80 per mile round trip plus any tolls or parking fees. So, if 40 miles one way and $10 in tolls, then would be $74 deliver charge (2*40*.8+$10). If you live beyond 100 miles away, we can put you in contact with a couple of antique blanket ship companies or you can check with UShip. They would probably charge around $250 to $300 to ship an item like this to you. Sorry, the other items you can see in the pictures are not included, just the desk described here.
